I just got a black kimber ultra carry and I would like to polish the hand saftey (not sure if that is the right term) and I would like to get a larger bevertail and polish that as well as polishing the hammer and getting an etended thumb saftey that is polished as well. Ca I do this myselfor would a pro be best suited?  What are my price options?

+1

do you mean the "thumb" or "grip" safety (i think you mean grip)?; when you say "polished" are you refering to fitting or makeing it shiny like SS or hard chrome?

the only thing i ever heard of "polishing" is the feed ramp...
FWIW: it sounds like you would be better suited w/ a pro to do the work

You can use a dremel with some jewelers rouge and a polishing wheel or a clean cloth some toothpaste and elbow grease. If your pistol is blued or has any coatings on it, polishing will remove it. You will most likely need refinishing afterward.
