Hi im new to the boards and im currently planning on making several weapon models in high detail 3D. Starting with my favorite weapon of all time the Colt1911. Im more into the old 1911 a1 and government issues.

What I am doing is basicly requesting as much detailed photos as I can get on the colt 1911 as I want to make everything as accurate as possibles outside and inside. If you colt1911 owners here on the forum would bless me with the photos I need I will repay the favour by displaying the progress of and the finished model here on the forums. Where at the end im planning to do a inner workin xray animation of everything that happends inside the weapon from loading the gun to the pulling of the trigger.

What I need (photowise):
Lots of side photos (both sides of the weapon) some angles, closeups, tricky insides that are hard to see from a bird perspective. A side photo where the gun is as 100% flat as you can get it (meaning that the photo doesnt angle the gun at all)

Front, back, top, bottom as many shots like this.

Shots of the individual parts, hammer, trigger, grips, front, inner parts (as many inner parts as you possibly have the patience to take shots off.

Shots of weapon assambled and dissasembled.

This might seem like a huge request, and it is a huge request. This will probably add up to being several hundred Colt1911 photos. If you want to help me make my high polygon detailed 3d model dream come true then I am looking very forward to your contribution. You can add me to MSN or post a link to a rar or zip packed file. I think posting image for image will take way to much space on this forum. And leaving room for display of the work in progress as I dont think admins would be to happy displaying 2 topics on the same matter. It also leaves room for you colt buffs to comments and critique the progress of the 3D model.

Lets get cracking

There are CAD models floating around out there.  Is that something you can use as a starting point?

While there are many pictures of guns on all of the various gun discussion boards,

I think you will find the following Link MOST useful for pictures of 1911s

www.coolgunsite.com

Look in the "Gallery" section.

The ideal would be to get 1 person with a good camera to take all the photos I need. This way the gun models doesnt vary with each reference. As there are quite a few Colt1911 models and parts. If someone has the time to provide reply in this thread or add me to msn.

As for a CAD model, could probably help in some areas.

And as for gun sites: I allready have alot of reference, but as said earlier there just arent enough reference photos of the same gun out there. This brings down quality alot, and most online pictures are very poor quality and displayed in bad lighting.

Thanks for the notes on the matter though
