| Was looking to get a .45 or a .40. Was looking at H&K's but my buddie has put me onto the idea of getting a 1911. Looking for one that is extremely reliable (fewest problems in extreme conditions and can take a beating) and accurate. I was looking at some kimbers but keep seeing people having problems. Lets keep this all under $1500. |
| Yeah, i figured more info would be needed, just didn't know what, lol. This will be used for open carry, lots of target practice, and will also be carried on hunting outings. I'm from texas, and in these parts, the temperatures are extreme, and alot of sand.....alot. lol Hope this helps, lemme know if you need more info. |
I'd be looking for a used Wilson cqb or protector / Les Baer TRS There are a couple of Wilson Protectors for sale in the EE right now. |
|
I have a couple NRM Colts that I like a whole lot...both are box stock, a Combat Commander and Government model. The Commander I use for carry. Both have been utterly reliable. I have heard real good things about Springfield products as well. The 1911 world is very large with lots of excellent choices available!! Good luck making yours, let us know what you choose. |
| Hey fellas, thanks again for the input. I think that i've narrowed it down to a Kimber TLE II or a Springfield TRP. If i got the kimber, then i'd use the extra $$$ for ammo and reloading equipment. What do ya'll think of these 2 choices? Any personal Experience? Thanks. |
| Yeah, i've heard some good and bad things about kimbers. My boss has the TLE and is gonna let me shoot it next week, he seems to like it alot. Which kimber models come with the external extractors and which come with the internal? Does anyone own one of the Sig 1911's? I was looking at the Sig Revolution XO and heard some good things, what do ya'll think? They seem to like it in the Sig Sauer forum, but that may be a bit biased, lol. Thanks. |

I had never owned or shot a 1911. I knew I wanted a "old school" 1911 so I started looking around. After a lot of research I chose an entry level 1911. I bought a Springfield GI .45 5", Parkerized PW9108LP. I bought some extra 7 & 8 round 1911mags along with some Wilson mags. Get Wilson mags. They are great. After a break in period it runs perfect. _________________________________________ |

You would do yourself a disservice if you didn't at least look at the SW1911. Mine have all been 100% reliable, accurate and S&W has the best Customer Service out there. http://www.lenaburgs.net/images/SmithWesson/SW1911PDTR_50s.jpg Regards, James |
I'm with him. Wilson CQB all the way man. |
Yes, this is the 1911 forum.
