i have a springfield mil-spec 1911.when i got it,the thumb safety was hard to operate.i have since put an extended safety on it.it disengages easy,but i have to put a lot of force on it to get it on safe.does it just need broke in?it only has about 400 rounds through it.thanks in advance.

No, your safety does not need to be 'broke in'. It does need to be properly fitted.
