First off, I didn't know whether to post this here or in GD, if any mods would need to move this thread, please feel free to do so. Now, to the question. I was perusing Kimber's website and they say their pistols are .45 ACP. Also, in the game Soldier of Fortune Double Helix the SOCOM pistol is listed as ACP. What does ACP stand for? Also, this is my first post in a tech forum outside of Hometown. WOOT! |

Your first guess is correct. The other two were pioneers of revolvers. |

[off topic] The .45 Colt cartridge was developed for the colt Peacemaker. Upon adoption of the S&W Schofield in .45 S&W (interchangeable with the colt cartridge except shorter and slightly less powerful) by the US Cavalry the Cavalry started calling the Colt Cartridge the .45 long Colt to insure that the units with the Colt revolvers got the more powerful Colt Cartridge instead of the less liked S&W Cartridge. | You call yourself an American and you don't know what .45 a.c.p. means sheesh......Just picking with ya. It confuses a lot of people me included when I first got into guns. Cartridges still do, so many variations of the same things, you ought to read on all of the calibers made over the years it's real interesting. One recently I half ass researched about is .357 Maximum. The shop I frequent had some of the ammo, thought about buying it just because, hell he wants like $5 a box I think only has two and wants to get rid of it. |
