| I want to know if there is a 1911 kit i could buy so I could put together my own 1911. I figure it is the only way to know a gun inside and out since you need to put it together. I don't want to buy one and take it apart and not know how to put it back together. |

EE is th eonly way to go.... I picked up a barrel and slide as well as misc. parts from a member, then I picked up other small sundry parts, wound up slowly pieceing together a 1911 for under $450 CDN (I used a Colt 1911 WW1 frame I had, paid $160 for it as a complete pistol with a 9mm barrel and slide on it as well as other parts I did not care for) |
Who made the parts? Any MIM in there? |
No idea. I've heard they are GI surplus, for whatever that may be worth. If it were me, I'd use the kit as a starting point and replace the ignition set with non-MIM parts down the road. |
Sarco.com and several other vendors (sportsmansguide.com) sell complete-minus frame kits... If all you want is a shooter, that should work perfectly... Sarco also sells frames... |
