well after fliping though a few gun magazines i think im going with the ed brown executive elite 5inch
if anyone has one of these and could tell me how you like it that would be great. also i think im just going to drive over to MO state and tour the factory and just buy it there.

so i called the ed brown company today to see about a tour of the gun plant and the lady told me they would need a few days notice.. I asked if they where busy alot and she stated no but ed brown gives the tour and meets with you to answer anything you my want to know!!!

I dont make a ton of money but i gather to say if i drive 5 hours to a gun plant and the owner meets with me to talk when im sure he has better things to do and my 2 or 3 grand isnt going to make him rich. well thats a done deal and now i have no problem spending a extra grand rather then buying a cheaper gun form someone else. another note of value is you can buy the gun right there, you need to get it shipped to a dealer in your state but you dont have a mark up or any sales tax just a fyi for those who may live close.

Brown makes good stuff.  And they're some of the prettiest 1911s out there.  I've got a Kobra Carry and it's been great.

They'll let you check out their operation? Must be nice, I didn't get that treatment when I stopped by the Kimber Factory in Yonkers, NY.

Sweet choice on a 1911 by the way...

They don't want anyone to see the kiddy workers pressing out MIM parts using their playdough presses.

I don't much about Ed Brown 1911s. I know some of the "semi-custom" 1911s are pretty tight, are these like that>

I haven't handled an Ed Brown, but have heard they are not tight like a Baer.

From what I've heard don't ask arrogant questions around EB, be well versed with his products.
DO NOT ASK if you can add options to your weapon, there are no options @ EB what you see is what you'll get.

Stroke his ego and you'll be on his Christmas card list enjoy your new weapon

That's too bad.  I've handled a few EB's and I've liked them, but I'm not going to pay that much for a 1911 if I have to add an arched MSH after I get it.  I guess, when the time comes for my graduation 1911, I'll have to go elsewhere.  There are plenty of options, perhaps I'll have Yost-Bonitz build my "Dr. Wolffie" gun.

It is impressive that Mr. Brown does the factory tours himself, and if that's an indication of his customer service it's something rare.  Still though, I find it hard to believe he won't offer an Arched MSH.

I have a Colt 1991A1 in polished blue that I'd be tempted to send to Yost-Bonitz, but who knows, I might want a stainless version by the time I'm ready.  That said, Ned Christiansen is local to where I grew up, and I'm interested in firearms with local significance.  A Three Rivers, Christiansen .45 would pair nicely with my old man's Dowagiac, Shellhammer rifles.

I've got some time to figure it out.

If you want one from Ned you better get on the waiting list now.  He has quite a backlog, although it is definitely worth it.

As for Brown, I think its great he gives the tour himself.  One of these days I'll have a Cobra Carry.

Hell, they just didn't know who you were! You shoulda used "Wave" instead of "Ray" and you would have gotten the grand tour!

That's not a bad idea.  First I need to figure out what I want, then maybe I can put my name in the que...  I've got another 16 months of school, and I figure two paychecks under my belt and I'll be able to swing a full house custom...

Don't worry about what you'll have done, just call or email him to get in line.  You'll have plenty of time to figure it out.  I've been waiting for quite awhile and I still don't know what I want him to build.

As a GM in a gun shop in NC, I have had the chance to check out Ed Browns, Wilsons, and an array of custom, handbuilt raceguns in the 2000, 3000, or more price range.  Granted I don't compete in the Bianchi Cup or do the championships, but I still haven't  seen any good reason to spend 2 or 3 times what I paid for either of my 2 Kimbers.  Let's see, went to the county fair last year and had the good fortune to meet the GM of the midway rides; visited Disneyworld also and Walt was no where in sight.
