I came to this forum to see if this particular 1911 had any discussions. This thread does not disappoint. A good friend recently asked me for a recommendation for a 1911. His intention is to carry. He has a GI mixmaster he inherited from his Father a long time ago. My first recommendation was a SA Garrison. At first he was intrigued but expressed a dislike for Springfield as a company after doing some online reading. My guess is he came across their actions in Illinois a while back. My snap response to that was to recommend RIA. I’ve had experience with both and wasn’t disappointed. Accuracy (repeatable) is my friend’s number one priority for buying a 1911 to carry. Then just yesterday I remembered the Colt Classic offering. A Gun dot deals search revealed Battle Hawk Armory having them in stock for $794.95 (once added to cart). And now today it’s raining outside so Fall leaf cleanup ain’t happening. What to do? Well, come here for research that’s what. Dammit!! My gun buying of late has hit my self imposed limit. But this thread has me thinking I “need” one of these. That way I could properly recommend one to my friend. And my CMP Colt could use a companion… Attached File |

Took mine out today and still continues to have NO problems. Was shooting 230 ball and also 230 hollow points. At that price that you found I would buy again and if it has the laser etched slide would be remedied for a proper engraving through Bertram amd still be OK with the money spent. But that is just me. |

Update: Both Colts function fine with the springs they came with but wanting things to be in spec, the reaction and hammer springs are getting changed out to what is supposed to be there. 16lb reaction (recoil) and 23lb hammer.  Fixed for grammatical error. |

It does blend fairly well when pushed in, but there is that gap where the frame tang meets. I've used a few Wilson's in the past, and they always seemed a little stiffer in the movement than this one. According to GROK AI, two tone wasn't offered in the Enhanced model. It was offered in the Combat Elite, but the frames were stainless. And the trigger fits better (less slop) than any I've had on a Colt, which makes me believe it was fitted. But it's all speculation. As far as price, I live in gun heaven. Plenty of inexpensive guns where I live in So. AZ. I try not to go to town too much, as I'll always find something to buy at a good price. I picked up this Combat Elite at the same shop not too long ago for a good price. Of course, I added my own touches which are similar to the Enhanced. Attached File |
