The guy from customer service asked for pictures to send to quality control for cosmetic issues. A couple days later they sent me an RMA and off it went to the Colt Custom Shop. Turn around time was quicker than I was told (35 ?working? days). I will keep you guys updated, pictures will be posted as soon as I get it and then slap the couple parts on it. |

I hate that I have had to use Colt customer service, but they have been outstanding for me. |

Colt should be ashamed of themselves for sending out guns with their clownish attempt at laser etching "roll marks". If they would simply etch it, buff it, then blue it = it would look 87% better than what they are doing now. Literally every other manufacturer of 1911's has it figured out and they look "decent" at least. If my gun wasn't spot on with the features I have been wanting I would have already traded it out = still thinking about it. Thanks for the info. |

| I was in the local gun shop last week and he had a never fired classic in the gun case that an older customer bought new last November. I took it home for $650 and it has renewed my interest in pistols after having nothing but Glocks the last 15 years. I haven’t fired it yet but it’s got my wheels turning. Debating on some upgrades or leaving it alone as it’s a beautiful gun. Part of me wants to find a 9mm 1911 that I can tinker with. Part of me wants to send this classic out for custom work since I feel like I got a good deal on it. Decisions…… |

Time for some more Colt 1911 history! This time we will look at Al Capone's "Sweetheart" https://www.americanrifleman.org/content/al-capone-s-personal-guns-up-for-auction/  This was Al's favorite pistol, later on his son Sonny Capone would end up with it. Sonny was an avid competition shooter, some of the upgrades is said to have happened when he took ownership of it. |

If I recall correctly I had Harrison do a trigger job, dovetail the slide and install a gold bead front sight, a Harrison Retro rear sight, an arch steel mainspring housing. I think he did replace some internal parts, maybe the sear disconnector, and hammer. |

It is an older Teflon like finish. It looks like coal. It was popular in the 90’s. They charge $200 to coat a complete handgun. It would get holster wear but was real slick when the rails and internals slide across each other. |
