Keep an eye out on 1911addicts, sometimes GI style 9mm's pop up. |

Announcement to the crowd: I now want a full framed, brand new 1911 Colt Classic (even in ACP, since 9mm isn't considered by Colt as new in this format) - that's because of this thread alone (and Magnum PI the original 1980s series) I'll buy one in July this year. It's inexpensive but I have to make sure my wife is fine with it. End of announcement. |

Unless you get lucky like I did on my first go around and get a proper roll marked slide.  This is after passing over the engraving carefully with a 600 grit sharpening stone. Nonetheless it is a hell of a blaster. Adding, pic is on an old Singer! |

Small update, pistol is still doing great. Decided to try out some Slip 2000 EWG on the slide rails and couple other spots to keep lubrication in place. Note: I have not had any issues shooting this pistol, 200 rounds so far, no hiccup.  I am not saying to run out and get it. I will say that for a grease it does not bleed like oil, stays put as it should, is not tacky, very slick. Time will tell and will give updates on that portion as time goes on. |

Nice looking gun. There is always something classic about owning a Colt firearm, especially a 1911. I had a Ruger 1911 but I decided I wanted a Colt to replace it, as to me personally, a Colt is a nicer hand me down because it is so iconic. On a side note, Academy Sports has them for $919 right now. I was looking for one and they had a stainless Colt Competition model for $999.00 and if you sign up for their credit card, you get 10% off of any gun and if you are a first responder or military, you get another 5% off of that. Not a bad deal. Ask me how I know.

Main difference is the wood panels and flat mainspring housing on the new classics.   Update: been daily carrying since I got it, still no issues, only been able to put another 100 rounds through it. One upgrade I want to do is swapping the front sight for one with a gold bead. |

For anyone interested, these popped up back in stock across the board it seems, my dealer ordered one for me and the distributor showed 99+ in stock.
