1911 slide release stuck,?I have a new        Remington R-S 1911 .Its a nice tight pistol. Racked the slide, pressed the       slide release with my left thumb it released easily, tried it again with and without an empty Mag it don't budge. Slide wont retrack to release it. dropped the mag and retracted the slide ok with the assist of a polymer     slid assist block. I am going to try different Mags  next. but thought this was odd?

Empty mags are designed to lock the release in the up position. If you were having trouble releasing the slide stop with out a mag in the gun that is something else- is the plunger tube loose? Is the slide stop detent in the plunger tube operating properly? Do you have a shok buff in the gun?

Sounds like it's time to read the manual of arms that came with the gun.

Problem Solved! The slide release area seems to have burrs. Need to break down       it and check for rough spots, I tacked the slide back and forth with the aid of a plastic rack assist  about 50 times. Now it releases . Manual doesn't mention rough fitted parts.

Its kind of a give and take, when you get it deburred it will have that nice aged look with the finish off the corners, but why didn't they deburr it before they finished it? Why? Why? Ya shouldn't freekin' finish it if it ain't finished. You should call remedialton and complain for a rebate to help off set your deburring fees. uhoh got me riles up now dernit. I'm callin' em for ya don't you worry.
