[ARCHIVED THREAD] - RIA locking back issues?

So I have a 1911a1 from rock island. Around 1500 flawless rounds. Only issues were traced to a bad mag. Out at the range the other day and it starts locking back on full mags. Trying different mags and ammo and it still happens every once in a while. Couldn't make it through a full mag without it locking back. Also had my first stove pipe during this session. Shooting ball ammo white box, s&b, and some other factory brass. Mags where a mix of Cmc, Wilson and some others. Gun was cleaned and lubed. Any ideas. I'm lost. I really don't know where to start.

like the slide release catches or it just locks up?

Start with a new recoil spring.

Could also be that you are pushing the slide catch every now and then with your thumb. Check your grip.

Run a few mags left handed using only one hand to shoot if the issue goes away you know you are inadvertently hitting the slide stop
