| I have a chance to possibly pick one up this weekend, have heard mixed reviews on them, it would fill a hole in my 1911 collection, my question to you guys what is your opinion of them? anybody have any personal experience with them? just thoughts in general I guess. Thanks |

I'm a gunsmith, and I've built/fixed more 1911's than you could possibly imagine. Every last Ruger I've seen has been made VERY well. I've had several customers bring them into me, but not one has been brought in because it didn't work; always some sort of custom work. So I've layed hands on a good sample of the Rugers and I'm pretty impressed; they're very nice guns.
If by some chance you get one that doesn't work, Ruger will make it right every time, so there's really nothing to worry about. I've been carrying a LW Commander (S&W) for the past 14 years and I find they're just about ideal for daily carry in an IWB holster. |

I decided I wanted to go back to carrying a 1911 and in particular a LW commander. I chose the Ruger in large part due to the overall quality compared to a comparable Springfield. It's well made, has all the items that are now common on a modern 1911 (relieved ejection port, extended safety and slide release, skeletonized hammer, beaver tail grip safety, flat mainspring housing and bumped grip safety). Mine has demonstrated good combat accuracy and has been relentlessly reliable. http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h470/SDBB57/1911s/IMG_9438_zpsaf0csli8.jpg The only major change I've made is adding night sights. http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h470/SDBB57/1911s/F44E1C80-BE86-4537-9433-0E135E737344_zps0os0wiha.jpg That's some fine shootin' there ! Please tell me that's at 50 yards.
