I'm wanting to buy my first 9mm 1911, and this model looks pretty sweet.

Does anyone own, or have any experience with this gun? Combat Operator 9mm

Would this model be worth buying over the Springfield Range Officer Operator?

I like the fact that this model comes with front strap checking, although I'm not sure of any other differences between the two models, other than finish, sights, price etc.

It also has tool steel ignition parts. But for the price I think I would buy a DW specialist for the extra few bucks and get all tool steel parts better sights and a magwell. .. and that's actually the Combat operator.

Pretty pleased with it so far, but she's going back to the SACS for some bells and whistles that I prefer.

Ah, so it is. Thanks.

Edit: I should be able to upgrade the mim parts in the SA to tool steel parts later on down the road though, right?

I read through your list of planned upgrades; should be even more badass once you get the work done.

Anyone know what the gray finish is?

I have the ROO and love it and I'm not a big fan of front strap checkering so the new one would not be worth it to me.  I can tell you that it's the softest shooting gun I have ever fired and amazingly accurate.  I also, bought mine to convert to 9X23 so the weight and balance is just about perfect for that.

Looks like it's called 'Grey Armory Kote'.

I wouldn't even worry about it.  The Springfield Professional Model is probably the most vetted modern 1911 available, and it has MIM parts.

The pro does have tool steel ignition parts tho.. But if your not doing a trigger job MIM sear and hammer shouldn't make a lot of difference.
