Time for some new mags, I was contemplating the fully tapered mags from Check-Mate since I mostly shoot 230gr FMJ.

Anyone else have these? Do they also feed hollowpoints (Ranger-T, SXT) ok, or are they best used for hardball only?

What kind of pistol are they going in?  Polished feed ramp?

I use Wilson ETM mags in all my 1911s I have had zero problems with them as apposed to all my other mags CMC MecGar etc that will have feed issues in my Kimber SS Target.

A variety of 1911's. I've got ETM's, though they haven't performed as well for me, and a variety of others; I'm just curious about folks' experience with the GI type CheckMates.

While my experience was with 9mm, I found metal form to work better than check mate for basic flush fit mags. Both are inexpensive. Another choice if you are involved in CMP ( civilian marksmanship program) sales is the usgi mags they sell cheap.

They're good mags, but not my preferred mag. The lips will spread sooner than wadcutter lip mags.

I'd get some 7rd Springfield mags. They're made by Checkmate in a GI configuration but with wadcutter lips, however they're not true wadcutter as they have a .05-06" taper, breaking the difference between Colt hybrid lips, and true wadcutter .0" taper lips. They're blued, drilled for baseplates, have the correct follower, and a stock 9.5# spring. They're good to go.

The release point is .54" on the wadcutter lips .66" on the GI full taper lips, and .51 on the Colt hybrid lips.

Nice!

Any idea if their stainless 7rd mags are built to the same spec?

Affirmative. Springfield also sells baseplates that screw in. Also John Harrison makes a low-pro baseplate intended for Tripp welded baseplate mags that should fit these. I'll check that out eventually.
