Hey everyone - looking to get a 1911 with a rail - budget would be $800 if all possible.

Thoughts, recommendations or brands to stay away from?

Thanks

Not much to choose from the that price range.

Ruger SR1911 and if you add a little more a Colt rail gun are options.

New or used op? You should be able to find either a new or like new series 70 1911 around that price.

Ruger SR1911 Talo, model 6715.  I liked the first one enough to buy a second one.  Both were $770-ish shipped to my dealer.

I got a basic Colt stainless for sub $800. I like it. I hear a Springfield can be had for about the same. A buddy has a Springfield at about the same price point. Nice gun. RIA will be mentioned. I have never touched one, but they are said to be a great value. The platform itself shoots better than others FOR ME. YMMV. For me, a 5" is too big to conceal carry comfortably most of the time in Tejas.
Enjoy.

Range Officer Operator

I got mine for $799.00 on Gunbroker, and later added Dawson Night Sights and VZ grips (Total investment just over $1k)

Thank you sir,

I have received a lot of inquiries about it, and people are blown away when I tell them it's actually a Range Officer...

Best bang for your buck without a doubt.
