Wasn't looking for one but I have a friend who needed the cash. $1400.  I'd shot it with him when he bought it new and loved it. About 500rds through it. Currently looking for a nice holster, I'm thinking leather instead of kydex because I would assume leather will be easier on the finish, am I correct on this?

That's a great looking pistol, Congrats!

Leather can have a smoothing or polishing effect over time on parts/places on the pistol. Kydex wear is more pronounced on any rough spots in the Kydex (some use fine sandpaper to smooth them when they 'feel' the need. Otherwise Kydex can have pressure points from manufacturing that can be rough on a pistol..

Nice!  After have a few 1911s up to a Springfield Custom, my next one will be a Baer TRS with blued slide and no markings or just the shield, and a nice leather holster.  So sharp!

There are also suede-lined kydex holsters.  That's what my 1911 rides in.

Nice SRP.. I would use a Leather holster or Suede lined kydex the finish in a Les Baer will wear off fast no matter what you put it tho unfortunately.. But Im sure it will be a heck of a shooter.

This, finish on Baers i had wore quick regardless of holster.Pick a holster that works for you, dont mind the finish cause its gonna wear if you use your gun.Especially if you carry.

Nice pistol!  Look at El Paso Saddlery some great leather.  I love everything I've gotten from them.

Jackpot baby!   Look at the Milt Sparks SSII.  Smooth side in will be easier on the finish. But the SRP has a polymer finish that will hold up better than bluing.

What are you going to do when your buddy hands you $1400, and asks for the pistol back?

Hand it back and go to the bank. Like I said, "wasn't looking for one". He will be on the hook for a holster reimbursment though.
Wouldn't bother me one bit. I can always find another Baer, good friends are alot harder to come by.

You need a good Quality leather rig for that.

Think Ritchie Leather, Nossar, Milt Sparks, 5 Shot Leather etc.

Holy shit batman, for those prices, those holsters should load your mags for you. Lol
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I ended up with a Milt Sparks. The guy I got it from said he never carried it and it sure looks brand new(STIFF as hell). Should I put anything on the holster to soften it up? I looked on the website and I think it's the summer special II but I am not positive. Hard to tell from the pictures on the site. For $75 I think I did alright and I didn't have to wait 3-4 months. The wait times from almost all of the manufactures were all 2-4 months. I also found some mags( 2 Chip McCormick,1 WC 10rounders, 1 Kimber, 1 Ruger, 3 Armscor and 1 no name 8 rounders) for $100. Going to keep looking for an OWB holster, got a line on a pancake from Simply Rugged that looks nice. Anyone know anything about them? Ran about 40rds through it the other day, man do I need a lot of practice , the gun deserves better. Hard to go from my G30 trigger to this one. Good thing is, I bought a Dillon 650 press to start loading my own so I can get the practice I DEFINITLY need. Thanks again for all the help.
