| I just saw this gun on the Internet and I love that color. It looks More bronze then a standard scorpion- what are the differences between a scorpion & a emperor ? |

Who knows, it's one of the 87 models of 1911 Sig currently makes and they themselves may not be aware of all of them.
From the description it sounds like their "custom shop" did something to it. Sig has about as much of a custom shop as Kimber does
If you want a cheap, good, 1911. I won't talk you out of a sig (I hate anything with an EE), but if you're going to pay 1200 bucks... get something better. |

1. It's not $1200, it's $900 2. The frame is anodized, whereas the standard Scorpion is cerakote. 3. Sig 1911's are fantastic this my emperor scorpion has been awesome I really enjoy shooting this pistol and it has a ton of features for what you pay. Im not a 1911 guy I think everyone should own at least one, with that said im thinking about picking up a second sig 1911 |
| I really liked the idea of the regular scorpion until I handled one but I hated the finish of it. The emp. has the obvious different finish, a curved trigger instead of the flat trigger that I hate. And also a funneled mag well, which is actually just extended grips that are funneled rather a true msh. But for me it was everything I hated about the regular scorpion. I hit mine for $905 from buds after transfer |

SIG sends their pistols out for finishing rather than applying the finish in house.
I believe that Ionbond currently applies their PVD finishes to SIG pistols. SIG calls the black finish Nitron. SIG only describes this finish by its color, "custom flat dark earth" when it's applied to the Emperor Scorpion. http://www.ionbond.com/en/coating-services/decorative/deco-and-sport/firearms/ I believe that the original Scorpions are finished with Cerakote. |

They are. I had one. It was the biggest piece of shit handgun I've ever owned. It had failure to feed due to an overly tight chamber, failure to extract, and the 'kote started to chip off (chipping usually means it wasn't applied correctly). Sig did something to the chamber, never fixed the extractor, and said the 'kote falling off was "normal wear and tear." I eventually had the gun shop I bought it from buy it back--I think they had more leverage to get Sig to buy it back from them. Yesterday I was at the gun range, the guy next to me was struggling with failure to feed and failure to extract and brass was flying everywhere when it did work... and it was a fucking Sig Scorpion with the cereakote chipping off. |
| I love my Emperor Scorpion too! Smooth as silk! Some of the bad reviews that I saw on you tube seemed to be mainly magazine issues. I haven't had any problems with mine, but I bought a couple of Tripp Research Cobra Mags for spares. I was recommended those by Clark Custom Guns, so I ran by there and picked up a couple. I haven't tried them out yet, though. |

SIG builds excellent 1911s that are likely the best in their price range, some purists frown on them due to their external extractors but they are well built, extremely reliable, and accurate 1911s.
My SIG 1911 Super Target Nitron is beautifully made and rivals my X-Fives, costing substantially more, in fit and finish. Not a tool mark to be found anywhere, inside or out and it's plenty accurate too. |
|
I have an Emperor Scorpion too. Love it! It's been completely reliable and more accurate than I am. It has all the features I want without having to go into the custom world. I only paid about $1000 with taxes, so it was priced right for what I wanted.
I also have another Sig 1911...just a standard railed model. It too is fantastic. For the money, Sig makes great 1911's and id happily buy another. |

I don't doubt that Sig builds a decent 1911 for the money. Yes some people have reported problems, but many more claim they run great.
My problem with Sig 1911's is that they are downright hideous looking. They remind me of a Taurus 1911 in the looks department.

De gustibus non est disputandum. This one has been absolutely superb for me in both accuracy and reliability. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b554/americafirst46/898498f1-aac5-41ef-8145-e88759e13723_zps3152a31b.jpg Quoted:

You are correct that tastes and opinions are subjective and all that matters is that you are happy with your gun. |

I've got the Emperor Scorpion, and I love it. It's tight, feels good in my hand, nice checkering, and has a nice, crisp trigger. The only difference that I could ever tell between the two is the color, and the Emperor has the curved see thru trigger, whereas the regular Scorpion has the flat solid trigger. The Hogue Piranha grips that come on them feels good in the hand,( to me anyways.) Sig also makes a "traditional 1911" in the Scorpion, and Emperor Scorpion that doesn't have the accessory rail. |
