The wife unit has decided to move to a .45 1911 for her EDC, up from her 9mm EMP. We went out today so she could try to find "her " gun. I wanted it to be a Springfield LW Champion Operator. I wanted her to have the ability to run a light if need me. She didn't like it. She ended up in a tie between the Springfield RO Champion and the Sig Sauer RCS 1911.
I'm REALLY pushing for the Springfield. They've been in the 1911 biz longer, more 'traditional" 1911, etc. Replace the MSH and guts add a set of slim grips and...done.
Any minuses to the Sig if that's the way she decides to go? I've owned one, but traded it off. Didn't like the flat trigger on the Scorpion series 1911s

I own them both and a few others of each with at least 1k of rounds through each with no issues at all. They both are keepers for me.

One thing she mentioned the about the LW Operator was the front strap checking. I'm a big fan, she is not. Out of the two Sigs she handled, they both had the front strap checkering. One bothered her, one didn't. I'm wondering if it will bother her while shooting. The SA has a smooth front strap, which is another bonus

I'm a huge fan of Springfield. Their customers service is the best in the business.

I haven't shot or owned a Sig but they do have some nice offerings

I have the Sig 1911 STX and love it. I feel like the Sig gives you more out of the box, things you end up paying for with other brands. Mine has functioned flawlessly, eates anything I feed it, and is very accurate. Front strap checkering is perfect. Not too much, not too little, just right.

I have a SIG 1911 Scorpion. I have yet to look back.

I had a Springfield Loaded many moons ago.

More like 6 months, but whatever.  I blew it up with a bad handload (I was a dumbass and didn't check myself) and blew out the grip and the magazine leaving me with a sore palm and a burn.

Fast forward 18 months later, I called up Springfield, told them I blew the gun up with a bad reload, they sent me the shipping label, and sent it back after about a week and it cost me $62 for a new mag and grips.

Either gun is an excellent choice, just go with what fits better.

I have a SA RO Compact and now two Sig 1911 Traditional types. They all are very accurate guns. They all have been reliable out of the box.

The SA, though, came with a crappy trigger, poorly prepped internals, poorly blended rear of slide, and that lawyer lock BS. Basically like you mentioned needed a few things to be done to it out of the box.

For the Sigs, it was take them out of the box, shoot them, and start carrying the one that is for carry. The triggers were great with zero creep. Out of my 15 1911's only I can only say that about my Sigs, DWs and my single STI. The blending on the Sigs is also very nicely done. The over all fit and finish is very well done on both my Sigs.

For me hands down it would be the Sig between your two choices. The Springfield RO line is decent but Sigs are better out of the box.

If she doesn't like the front strap checkered, you can always throw on some skateboard tape for a little extra grip. I think the Sig is a little nicer out of the box as well.  But it is going to be her carry gun, so she needs to pick the one that works for her.
