| I may have an opportunity to purchase a 1945 Colt this afternoon. Apparently it is NOT US Property marked but has a park finish and original plastic grips. Did Colt make a civilian 1911 in 1945 identical to a USGI version minus the gov property markings and how much would it be worth? |

There's one on Gunbroker right now that's up to $1000 with 11 bids and 3 days left.
Condition is everything. "Good" is far to generic a term. The pistol is likely worth at least a grand, possibly much more. I should be blued not parkerized but in that era Colt was doing some odd stuff. |

With a serial number in the 2 million range it is a GI not commercial .....as a 1945 GI it should be parkerized.....it should be U.S. property marked unless it was ground off.....that serial number without us property markings is not worth much ETA: pics would go a long way but it may be worth picking up as a parts gun......is it a colt slide? Is it a Colt barrel? The frame Serial is a 1945 Colt range and right at the end of GI production No there was no commercial colt production In 1945 Look for inspector marks GHD on left side of frame as they should be there |

Very common for the uneducated or those trying to dupe buyers to say hey I have a colt 1911 ( or other especially gi maker ) when in reality the only part on it that can be attributed to the original maker is the slide.
Until the 1991 series gun initial run colt did not make a civilian version 1911 in parkerized. |
