What you recommend for sending a basic GI 1911 for work?  Any testimonials/horror stories from either of them?  Not in a hurry at all, but I have a series 70 that I got with the intention of having built to my liking.  What I am looking for is a replacement of MIM, Barstow Barrel fit and installed, Bushing fit and installed, Novak style sights, and the ejection port lowered.

And for the frame I am looking to have a commander hammer, ed brown grip safety, MS housing with a lanyard loop, and long trigger at 4-4.5#.

I also want the whole pistol to be finished in something durable.  I think the bluing is beautiful, but this will be a shooter.

I know it will not be cheap, but I am hoping to find a place that will give me good work for the money and that I can have confidence in. If anyone has experience with the three listed, please make recommendations.

I've been very happy with SAC's work and service.

I haven't used any of the three you mentioned.
We are fortunate here in Connecticut to have Jo-Jo's Custom Gunworks in Southington.

They are full service gunsmiths and renowned for their 1911 work.

I had alchemey do some work on my les baer. Couldn't be happier. Price was way less than sending the gun back to les baer. Turnaround was quick and they answered all my stupid questions.

I have had work done at SACS and Alchemy. Heads or tails, although Rob is real busy right now. SACs was 9 weeks on my ROC I just got back. Basic stuff, reliability package, sights, checkering and refinish.

E-mail Rob, tell him what you want and he will get right back to with an estimate. Same with SACS.

I only have experience with SACS and will recommend it to anyone. What you want to do was almost the same works SACS did for my old SA standard model.
- fit Springfield match barrel & bushing
- install Novak rear sight & SA front sight
- add Front cocking serration
- install King's ambi thumb safety
- install SA tool steel hammer/sear
- fit SA beavertail grip safety
- install SA checkered MSH with lanyard loop
- fit SA speed trigger 4.5 lbs pull
- flare ejector port
- Parkerized finish

Very nice.  That is pretty much exactly what I am looking for.  I think SACS will be the route I end up going.

I've used both SACS and Alchemy.  Both were great.

SACS may be the quicker of the two, but give Alchemy a call to find out their schedule.

I don't think Wilson works on guns they don't make any more, given their busy schedule as of late.
