How do you guys rate the Taurus PT1911 in single stack 9mm?
Good buy for $500? I am seeking out my first 1911, not really interested in anything extremely fancy, and the PT1911 seems to cover all of the bases. (wanting an inexpensive stainless 9mm, and Taurus is the only company within a several hundred dollar price range - that I can find so far.) |

I have one. Nothing fancy. It does the job. As you say, "it covers all the bases"
I bought it from my brother. I haven't run a ton of rounds through it, but it always goes bang and has had no feeding issues. We have 3-4 of them in my family, bro, nephews...I have heard no complaints. I believe my nephew carries his. |

Series 80 doesmt matter... You can't tell the difference on a good trigger. Quoted:

Polishing stainless though ismt hard just put paper over a pencil eraser and go up to as shiny as you want Hmm, can you do that to an entire slide and frame face? Seems like a large flat area like that might come out uneven if not done with a belt sander or something. I really want to go that route though. |

Trick is go north to south with one grip then east to west with the next. You can use a buffer but that breaks the edges pretty easily. Spent a good semester (4 months) in gunsmith school polishing metal years ago. It's not hard really it's just a pain in the ass and it's slow. Far as the triggers, I have both types of guns. A good job on a trigger, you're not gonna notice a difference. Quoted:
New version looks much better without the billboard! completely agree. |
