Was shooting my Colt Series 70 today. I reloaded about 150 rounds over the week to shoot today and all was going well until the last magazine. About halfway through, the front sight decided to fly off of my slide. The sights that I have are Trijicon night sights that fit in the traditional GI sight cuts. The front sight was a wide tenon one that I had a gunsmith install for me. I have shot probably about 600 rounds through it since I got these sights installed last year. It looks like the sight broke in half and left a lot of metal in the slide. What should I do? Call trijicon?

I would have it dovetailed for a Novak front.

Staked on sights suck.

This is a Novak front that replaced the staked on front that fell out of my 80 Series.

I'll second the dovetailed front sight. Had the same thing happen (front sight fly off) to my first 1911 during the rapid fire stage of a club event. Yea.. accuracy sucked after that.

I have gone with dovetailed sights after that.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll go dovetail. I'll see if I can drop it off at cylinder and slide this week. Been meaning to get a beavertail fitted as well.
