Anyone have a Duty One with a lightweight frame yet?  Not sure if they are out yet; cannot find one anywhere.  Anyone know if STI is manufacturing these frames in house? Interested in the 5.0.

I have a steel framed Duty One and I love it, one of my favorite pistols. The Lite AL framed guns are out, try gunbroker or see if your FFL can find one through his distributors.

I just put one on layaway about two minutes ago (steel frame).

Wanted something a notch above my Kimber Warrior.

Dawson's can order me one from STI. Still not made up my mind, would love to hear from some STI owners.

How is the STI night sights?

Good choice.

STIs are very good.  I have two Trojans, and have had several Colts and Springfields for comparison.
I use one in USPA completion so get lots of rounds.

I have seen some troubles with the adjustment on the stock extractor, so I always add an AFTEC extractor, and have perfect reliability after, which is a must to be competitive.

I also always add a more protruding mag release (I get Nowlin, I don't know why they supply the short/uncheckered one).

I think you'll get a Bull barrel, which you may have to take down with a paper clip, but that's OK.
If you get one from Dawson or Brazos, I strongly suggest paying to have them do a trigger job with the stock parts.  It's the cheapest way to get a great trigger, that makes the 1911 shine.  If it's for carry or defense just specify the desire pull weight.

Also, I have a problem with not always deactivating the grip safety following a mag change, so I always file it down some or all the way until it either works with only light movement or no movement at all.  Easy to do.

They are a great "platform".

Looks like some guys over at the "Enos" forums have the Duty One and talk about it.  I'd search there, e.g.:

Looks like people there are recommending to ditch the recoilmaster spring for a standard GI set up:

STI Duty One 4.0 Lightweight in 9mm here. Looks good, feels good and shoots amazingly well. Not sure if it just didn't like the ammo I took to the range second time out or what but a couple strokes on the extractor with a miniature file got it performing flawlessly. Really like this gun. Paid $1400.00 plus tax.

I cant speak for a Duty one but, very impressed with my Ranger II.
My trigger was just over 4lb out of the box and has settled to a bit under 4lb with
less than 2mm total travel after close to a thousand rounds, and no failures of any kind.

They are Heinie Straight 8 night sights. I like having dot sights. Standard sights are blacked out sights (no dots)?

If going through Dawson Precision, I recommend ordering the standard version and upgrade it with their fiber optic front sight.

It would be for duty use so I need night sights. I like the 10-8 sights and a few others. Love the rear sight on the DW Specialist. Consideering it, Colt Rail Gun and a couple Springfields. I like the idea of the lightweight frame however.
