I like Stars.  I've got 3 of them and am searching for more.

I believe Star has been out of business for at least a decade, almost two IIRC.  You are looking at the used marked buddy.  Watch Gunbroker and your local shops that get lots of trad ins.

Yep. If you are looking for a Star PD the used market is where you should look.

The Star PD was the first .45 that i had fired back in the 80's. They are great guns and i do believe that Numrich has spare parts for them still.

My Father has one. Very well made pistol for the time (1970s). Parts are hard to find as are mags. They haven't been made in close to twenty years. They don't do JHP very well and are a bit outdated. Prices are going up in them too.

The only experience I have had is with a BM.  It was a fun little gun.
I sold my blued one years ago, but still have a Starvel one.

With all the love Stars get, I've had it in the EE several times thinking it would move.
Not even one low ball offer

a friend had a PD back in the 80s... and we chuckled when he showed it to us at the range... when he offered it to shoot, we loaded it up with all the reloading mistakes we had in the ammo can... it made us look foolish, and digested everything we stuffed into the magazine... hokey adjustable rear sight, though, and if it had a BM/BKM fixed sight, I would have one...

Ive owned a few PDs over the years. They were one of the first smaller .45 autos widely available. The ones i owned all worked without fail using all types and brands of ammunition.

I love my PD. I picked it up after getting rid of a satin nickel Colt Combat Commander that still choked after a couple of trips to the 'smith. Even though the PD's are long out of production, I still see some new ones crop up now and then.

I like Spanish guns, especially the Stars. I've got six or seven of them, including a massive "Megastar" in 10MM.

We'll I'm having a hell of a time finding any. If anyone is willing to sell one, let me know.

I could also be talked into other Star firearms as well.

Also, do they fit proper in leather 1911 holsters? I'm having an IWB tuck able holster made for my DW Valor by HBE leather works. Will the star series work in them?

BTW are there any start models to shy away from?

I know the Model B is thinner than 1911s and will not be retained properly in any 1911 holster.

The Star guns are OK as a cheap truck beater but are not something I'd want to depend on for my main sidearm, given the holster / spare part situation.

same here..........and I kick my ass every time a thread like this comes up.

Edit: The "P.D." stands for 'Pete Dickey' who developed/invented the P.D.
