Have a 70 series Gold Cup National Match and a newer Model 0 Gold Cup Trophy; they both shoot great and eat anything I feed them!

It likely came with 2 recoil springs...one for wadcutters / light loads and the other for everything else.

200gr. LSWC is what I feed my Gold Cup. It works very well.

I haven't seen any of the late model Gold Cups come with two springs.
Regardless, they should run just about any 45ACP ammo.

They run fine until your rear sight flies off because the slide gets hammered and breaks the rear sight roll pin..... Make sure if your shooting 230 grain you have the heavier recoil spring.

And the late models don't use the style of sight that had that problem. They now come with a BoMar clone.

Yes 2 springs were included from the factory and do make a difference.  I shoot a lot of semi wadcutters and never have a problem when using the correct springs.

It's my favorite gun, a work of art.

It came with two springs. The other one sitting in the box on the bottom shelf of the safe.

There is no mention of two springs coming in the new models on the Colt website for some reason. Thanks for the info!

I recall asking a friend to look in the box of a new one a few years ago and there was, as I recall, no extra spring. Must have been an oversight from the factory.

Most factory ammo today will work with 18 1/2 lbs. springs. when shooting check to make sure your brass is ejecting and landing at 3 O' clock. Most 45's come with 16 1/2 lbs. springs. That springs is for 820 fps ammo. 45 ammo has just been better hotter and hotter some out there (forgot which) is 960 fps. If you are using a spring that is not heavy enough it is battering you frame to much. Skip the shock-buffs get the proper spring.

I bought a new production gold cup about a month ago and it came with two springs. The lighter one was colored green.

It should be set up for 180's or 200's out of the box.

Nice guns.  Are they putting the rib back on the top again?

That is for the environmentally friendly ammo or just the protesters?
