Well, after years of lusting after the 1911 I finally popped my cherry and picked one up today. I had it shipped in from Bud's and picked up a new RIA Compact Tactical 1911 in .45ACP.
Having just played with it for a little bit so far I have to say that I'm happy with the fit and finish. It feels just about perfect in my hand and the trigger is just right. I was a little surprised that the sights are all black. There are indents on the rear so I guess I can add some white paint until I find some other sights. Unfortunately my LGS didn't have any mags so I need to do some shopping and I still need to decide on a holster. Let the fun begin!

Nice. I'll let 'em know that. They had a very small selection. Stopped by my regular place just now and they only had a handful of Wilson and Kimber mags but suggested I bring it in. They said they've seen the RIA's be picky.
Man I can't wait to go shooting! Detail strip it and clean ALL of the shipping goop from the internals before you shoot it. |
