Just curious if anyone has tried doing it with a full size. Looking at Ravens appendix holster.

I think itll be too big to pull off but thought Id ask first. I know some guys who appendix carry glock 34s and 35s

I was going to order one for my sig P232 for when my 1911 is too big, but then I realized I havnt had a problem concealing the full size 1911 I carry everyday.

What do you guys think?

IMO being of thin-average build, appendix is the only way to conceal a fullsize.
1911, XD45, P99 have all ridden there. I don't oft wear fitted shirts so they hang slack and I don't print at all.
I do wear my pants a little low though and sitting for long periods can get a bit uncomfortable.

What holster are you using?

Thinking about pullin the trigger on one.

Im a little confused on the model options on the fast ship. It says full size 1911 5'' GI spec.

Im worried that is for GI heigh sights and not novaks.

Ive emailed them about that

Please keep us posted.   Been pondering that holster for a while now, never found any solid reviews, only brief statements.

I was very skeptical about appendix carry, I work in a gun shop and all I ever knew was just regular IWB and OWB options until a friend of mine started carrying appendix. I decided to give it a try since I am on my feet 9+ hours a day I thought even if it was only comfortable while I was working it would be worth it. I got the Raven Vanguard 2 I believe, it's the one that just covers the trigger guard and has a single belt loop for my Glock 19 and I love it. Hand's down the most comfortable way I have ever carried my Glock, conceals much better, as far as anyone else is concerned I might as well not be carrying a gun.

I haven't tried one for the 1911 yet but I want to, I have tried just sticking my unloaded 1911 in roughly the same place up front with no holster and because it's so thin, I think it would work very well. Go for it!

I have a CCC Shaggy AIWB holster coming for a 5" 1911 should be here in the next week or so. I have carried a G36 in a JM kydex AIWB for a few weeks and find it to be pretty comfortable.

Here's a good resource if you haven't seen it:

http://pistol-training.com/archives/category/range-reports/springfield-1911-9mm

I haven't found a good rig for a government length 1911, feels too long.  Commander length fits nicely provided the rig tucks the grip inboard towards the body.

Well I can assure you guys if I do shoot myself I would never post it online

I have a pistol class with Frank Proctor coming up. If I get this holster soon enough and get some time with it I may use it at that class

Ill bring both. My phantom is about worn out over the years of use. Im not sure how comfy I will be using the appendix rig that quickly. Class is only a few weeks away. Itll depend on how natural everything feels

I did ask about using my current IWB holster there as the description says to use OWB type holsters and I was told to use whatever I wanted. Minus SERPAs. Seems like most instructors now a days are saying serpas are a no go.

I think in that video a serpa was being used in case you ask why you cant use serpas

I got the idea of using a appendix rig when I was at Kyle Defoors class last year. Two no name guys out of Indianapolis PD were using appendix rigs on mid sized glocks, based on their gear and beards I would say they do something special up there. Kyle was all about those appendix holsters. I think he even carries this way now, although I haven't seen him since last year

So basically Ive been thinking about getting an appendix rig for roughly a year and just now pulling the trigger on it

Im 5'8/5'9 and about 150. Im pretty thin, and I wear a full-size at 4:30 without issue. I should be getting an HBE Leatherworks holster soon, and mag holders. I tried AIWB, but its painful =/

I just purchased a Colt Defender and am looking to possibly appendix carry. It's my first 1911 ( BIG BOY GUN) and trying to figure out the best way to carry it. Has anyone tried the Crossbreed appendix holster?

I have not used it, but I have read that the design doesn't lend it self well to the 12-1 o clock (AIWB) carry. Check out pistol-training that was linked above good resource for AIWB.

I think the grip is going to be too long to really make it practical.

Im wearing it right now. Its comfy enough, but the grip prints pretty good. If I wasn't wearing a sweater right now it would be a complete no go as far as concealed is concerned

I have not made any adjustments yet, im hoping thatll help hide the grip a little. May also add something to the bottom of the holster to help put the grip into my stomach more

I don't think its going to work well for me though

Well I am pleased and somewhat surprised to say it works. And it works well.

After getting home and adjusting some tthing it worked better. Butt still stuck out just a little sometimes.

Quick trip to Lowes for some garage seals and duct tape and now the pistol is hidden. I added strip to the muzzle end of the holster and it now somewhat pushes the pistol into my stomach

I've been using a JM Custom Kydex AIWB holster for the last year. Great holster. Comfy for 12-16 hours a day. My first one was for a P30. Now I carry a 229R (In a 226R holster). I get the "extra tuck" and "wedge" option.

Don't think it can't happen.  I've been carrying for 32 years and I have seen the craziest things happen with guns.  Yes, I have had the safety on a 2011 move from the safe to fire position inside a pretty stiff leather holster than completely closes over and around the entire safety lever. I would very worried about carrying it pointed at my gut and/or pecker.
