Are these plug and play? I know it won't be blended, but will in be functional?
Also, can you make weight for CDP with one? |

Plug and play? Sort of. Potential pitfalls:
-Make sure your mainspring cap drops in and falls back out. Though rare, sometimes the tunnel is too small, and the mainspring cap can bind. -Make sure the hole in the frame for the mainspring housing pin and the hole in the mainspring housing line up. This is the single most common issue with S&A mainspring housings. You see it most in Springfields. If your holes don't line up, you can take a small round file and open up the hole in the mainspring housing. You will have to open up the forward portion of the hole usually. -Make sure your grip safety still works. The amount the grips safety swings out, and consequently how much of the trigger bow is blocked, is controlled by two tabs under the grip safety that but up against the top lip of the mainspring housing. You need to make sure that there is enough engagement on your trigger bow. If the grip safety doesn't work, remove material from either the lip of the mainspring housing or the tabs on the bottom of the grips safety, and you will get extra swing out. Also, make sure that the top of that lip isn't too high. If it is, then you will get binding and your grip safety will not swing freely back and forth. If it's too high, you won't even get the mainspring housing back on. -Sometimes the tongue on the sides of the mainspring housing are too wide to fit into the grooves in the frame. You might have to dress these. I haven't seen and issue on an RIA, which is what I assume you're installing it in. -Make sure you function check the gun. Para Ordnance, Auto Ordnance, and most of the Filipino guns have a sear spring cut out in the frame that is too low. In the Filipino guns it's not as bad as the older Paras or AOs. Regardless, they often have marginal contact with the sear. With any new part, tolerances can be different. I once installed an S&A for a friend in his RIA and the gun no longer had sear engagement. It's a rarity I'm sure, but nevertheless, make sure you safety check the gun. |
