Hey guys! 1911 noob here

I have an offer for my Daniel Defense 16" upper, omegx rail, midlength, mbus sights

he is offering up his Para USA Black Ops Recon 14.45.. 200 rounds shot he said

What are your thoughts? I think the only thing holding me back is the double stack. Pictures online make it seem like they are huge compared to single stacks? I know that holding it or any double stack will answer this for me but the shops are closed and i am curious now.

thoughts?

thanks!

while some claim to have good luck with para I have no opinion but several guys local swear they will never buy another one again due to problems and customer service issues.

Never heard anything good about para guns. Last was a friend who bought one this summer and couldn't shoot a whole mag out of it

My experience with PARA was about 20 years ago. I bought a new P14.45. It was junk and I have kept my vow to never have another.

I don't own one but, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence regarding the unreliability of double-stack 1911s.
Is it possible to put at least 100 through it before trading?

This was me, too.  I didn't buy it, I got the G23, but my buddy bought that Para at the same time...off we went to the range.  What a POS.  It hung every shell in the ejection port, no matter what we tried.  6 months later, and 2 "repairs" he traded for a Delta, and that started my love for 1911s.

The G23 is still in the safe, but now carry my Colts.

I am sure they have improved over the last 2 decades, but man, it sure did sour me.

What is that DD upper worth, $900 or so?

I wouldn't give that much for a Para.  They do feel big and square in the hand, and are heavy, especially fully loaded.   The theory is sound and they can be worked into a decent gun (I currently own a couple), but despite Para's latest claims of increased quality, I think it pays to be skeptical.

Several of my IDPA crowd run Paras.  If any gun is going to choke and puke in a match, its one of the Paras.  Yet they won't give them up.  I don't get it.  I would never own one.

Many better 1911s out there.

Fuk no.  Para double stack is junk of the junk.  Everything Para sucks!

I'm joining the "Aw, Hell No..." Crowd today. Not for a Para, no way.

I would not want to put a Para into my safe again... bought one about 15 years ago. Sold it about 10 years ago.
One of the few guns I'm honestly happy to see gone.

I shot a few several times in the late 80's, never liked them well enough to buy one. The range we belonged to at the time was a new Para dealer, they would let you test drive almost anything you wanted. This was their selling tactic, (you'll like it so well you'll buy one) didn't get them many sales..............

Phuck no!

Daniel Defense makes great stuff, para doesn't.
