Does Springfield offer the Champion in black stainless? I cannot access their website, but a yahoo search
suggests they do not. LGS has an Eclipse Pro that has caught my eye. Asking $1120 which I assume is high, because most of their prices are. What about the fullsize: would you choose the Springfield or the Kimber, and why? |

What about the fullsize: would you choose the Springfield or the Kimber, and why? I personally would pick the Kimber because I don't like the parts Springfield uses. Their grip safety is really sharp and uncomfortable for folks with small hands. Sold the one I had to a buddy who really likes it (he has giant Mongo hands) and bought a 2nd Kimber. |

I have a Kimber Warrior and a full size SA black stainless. Both run perfect. The SA was kind of beat up when I got it from a friend (cheap), but it works great after I showed it a little love.
Comparing the two I would say they are pretty even in terms of fit and finish. The only big difference I have noticed is the SA has sharper edges, especially the slide serrations. I like kimber and I think all the bashing is over done, but I will say that I think they are a little overpriced. I would probably go with Springfield if I were you. Their guns are usually pretty damn good out of the box and the customer service is great. |

All it was was black paint in places on a stainless gun. They quit it because the paint didn't stick much at all.. I have heard before that it doesn't last very long, but I was under the impression it was a chemical treatment that discolored the metal. Is that not the case? Are Kimber having any more success with their finish? |

I believe Kimber used their KimPro finish which is a coating. Buy the stainless gun you want. Shoot it, then get it coated black. There are so many good choices now. Melonite, Diamondblack, Black Ice Teflon, Cerakote, etc. |
