Is the $1,200-1,400 price tag normal?

What you guys pay for yours?

Last I saw, the recent runs were going at about 1050-1100.   Haven't see any in a while.

Used were anywhere from $750-900 depending on condition.  I would have a tough time going much over $1000 for one, with its rat tail safety, unramped barrel, GI sights, etc.

I saw one at the Greenville Sc gun show last weekend for $1,050.

I bought a new one just a month ago,  I paid $1100 out the door new for it.

I had an old one with work done, sold it for $1200.

Nice ones are hard to find under a grand... my opinion...

BNIB from LGS: $950 + tax. Probably my favorite 1911 now. Shoots amazingly!

Depends on how bad you want one right now and how lucky you are at finding one.  :-)

IIRC, it came out to $1450 w/tax, shipping, and transfer fees all included.  The one shop I could find with a NIB on hand definitely had the advantage on the supply vs. demand side of things.  I saw a few listed for less, but they were gone by the time I saw the ads and called them up.  I'm glad I got it, shoots great.  I'm getting good use out of it.

Ok guys need your help.

I went to my LGS and they told me the best they can do is put me on a "wish list" and if one shows up they will call.

Do I need to find a Colt distributor and back order the gun?

I do not care if it takes 6 months to get one.

Found my receipt.  Purchase price (pre-tax/shipping, etc) was  $1240.00.  Got it from http://www.specializedarmament.com/

Doesn't look like he's got any in stock right now, but might be worth a call.

I am not associated with seller, was just browsing their ad and read your post.  They have it listed for $1100.

Are you looking for a DE to shoot 10mm or just wanting a DE?  If you want to shoot 10mm look at the Kimber models on Gunbroker.  They have a fully supported barrel so you can shoot full power loads, checkered front strap and night sights.  If you just want the DE because it is Colt I can understand, several are usually on Gunbroker.  Had a DE, sent it to Novak's and like a fool sold it one day.  I now one a Kimber Eclipse in 10mm.  Good luck.

Don't they come in .45 also?  I was going to ask the guy that just ordered one which caliber he ordered.

Nope I'm thinking of the combat elite because it's on the same page on their website. OK.  Sorry 10mm guys.

I went back and forth for a long time about the DE. I ended up going a different direction based on the fact I couldn't shoot heavy 10mm that I already load for my Glock, and it seemed like a lot of money for a pretty basic 1911.

Are they the price they are because of the limited number of 10mm 1911s or am I missing something?

Honestly ( and I am a huge Colt fan ) it's because of the Pony.
The one thing about a Delta in general is that it is likely going to be very reliable right out of the box....BUT as you ( and now I ) have noted, the DE cannot, in stock form, handle TRUE Ten mm loads out of the box.
I am still trying to find a standard, NON ramped 10mm barrel for this.  I am going to made several mods so I can run serious 10mm loads in my DE.
This is a 10mm Fusion that I built earlier this year for Winston Wolff.  It took a LOT of time and work to get it up to snuff....but it is 100 percent reliable and it can handle MASSIVE, serious loads...and, Dear God, is it effing accurate:

By the way, this is the gun after some serious ( several hundred rounds )  test firing and carry.

That color is burnt bronze, by Cerakote and...YES, it most certainly can be applied to stainless.
