I ordered a TRP and it will be here on Wednesday.  Plan on getting some additional mags for it.  What do you guys like for a TPR?

I was thinking some of the black 8 round wilson combat.  I heard that you get a discount coupon for springfield mags that come in the box.  This true?

I've heard other say that they had a hard time w/Wilson 47D, but I never had a problem w/Wilson ETMs in mine, nor CMC or the factory. Those are all I ran through it.

Wilson 47s

I have had long term durability problems with the 47Ds. I think their trying to cram too many bullets into that mag and the spring gets weak easy.

The 47s on the other hand I have never had a problem with them.

The 47Ds I now have sport Tripp followers and springs and they work great now. Although a few have stopped dropping free. I believe the feed lips have opened up slightly but they still function great. I just use those for training. But they have lasted over a decade of use

If you're buying a new Springfield,  there will be a "loaded coupon" in the box:  it offers some pretty significant discounts on various SA mags, with a generous limit on how many you may order.  My SA mags work well in my TRP and RO as well as in all my other 1911s.  Shipping was a little slow, but not more than about ten days.

I never had a problem with SA mags out of my TRP as well. I personally just prefer Wilson 47s

Get the Tripp Cobramags, they are the best, period. Later on, get a Harrison Design True Radius Sear and new hammer and your good to go.

I've never had an issue with the Wolff branded ACT mags. I, too, used the "loaded" coupon and got as many mags as they allowed (5?) just for range use and those, too, have never disappointed me.

what sort of discount does SP give for their mags?  I looked on their website and they are around 23 bucks a piece. 39 bucks with pad

on the Tripp mags,  7 or 8?

47D's

I have 8 Tripp Cobra mags, two 7 shot springfield mags and a couple 47D mags. The Tripp's are the best of the bunch and about $30 each (dealer) for the 8 shot mags from Brownells. The 47D mags work fine but with the all plastic follower you will get wear from the slide stop eventually. Plastic pushing steel, the plastic looses. The Tripp's are steel contacting steel with a nylon follower on top, best of both worlds. The springfield mags work fine but I prefer 8 shot mags.

I am assuming that the 7 round Tripp mags sit flush on the TRP?   How about the 8 rounders?

Who makes the SA mags?

On the Springfield Armory FBI Professional model- What mags come with that?

I actually kind of like the Chip McCormick Power Mags with mine. I've probably only put around 1000 rounds through it, but I've NEVER had a FTF.

If I remember correctly it was $10 a mag for the 7 rounders.  10 mag limit.   I got 10 of them and they are still running strong.  Never had a problem with any of them.

My TRP eats ammo from every mag I've used so far.  No issues here.  I too am partial to my 47D's and Wilson 10 rounders.

Wilsons would not fit in the Springfield I owned.  They would not go in far enough to engage, due to the baseplate design and the Springfield magwell.

I have used either Novaks or McCormicks for decades.
