I had a TRP Operator a while back but ended up trading it off.  I still have a few semi-customs, but nothing with a rail.  I've been wanting another railed 1911 and didn't want to break the bank.  After a bit of searching I kept coming back to the MC Operator.  They aren't the easiest thing to find, so I ended up buying one off of Gunbroker.  Should be here by the end of the week.  Anyone here have one?  How do you like it?  If you have some pics to tide me it would be appreciated

I carried one for awhile.  Though my 1911s are all customized, I left that one alone except a trigger job.  The gun was accurate and reliable.  The two downsides were weight and sharp edges on the frame.  I've always carried full sized/full weight guns until this year, and was never bothered by it.  While I could carry fine with this particular gun, it was annoying from a weight standpoint.  Some of the weight came from the grips.  I would have messed with it but I have other railed 1911s and I traded that one off.

I think you'll love the gun.  Mine was a pleasure to shoot and the finish was durable.  Sorry I don't have pics for you.

I really enjoy mine. I shot probably 500rds when I first got it and it was great. I went through the trigger, added a magwell and some VZ grips now its probably my favorite gun to shoot.

I looked at them, but I really wanted a full-size, plus I wanted a steel frame.

I have a full size, full railed Springfield loaded Operator and it is a fun range gun, but I've never carried it.  They are hard to find a holster for, so mine sits in the safe.  Honestly, I would trade it for something else if I ever thought about putting it up for trade.

I have the Pro Operator but I wouldn't feel like I was missing out on too much from the MC Operators that Ive got to handle and shoot. I admit the fit of the Pro is what youd expect but other than that, the trigger, accuracy and checkered front strap the real differences start coming down to the ball cuts and how the end the frames dust cover. I still think the MC is the best bargain that SA has going, its every bit as nice as the TRP.

Pretty decent blaster, my front sight is starting to get dim 8 or 9 years old.  Great trigger.  My ejector has come loose, but the gun still runs fine.   This is a target shot from 20 yds standing, with 2 different 200 gr bullets. RN and SWC.

I love mine. Its been 100% with factory ammo and my reloads. I figured I couldnt go wrong for a used, unfired MC Operator for $950 out the door.

Picked it up yesterday.  I went straight to the range and put 50 rds through it.  It ran 100% and accuracy seemed pretty good.  Overall I'm happy with it.  Definitely not a semi-custom in terms of fit and finish, but I like it.  The grips are a bit more chunky than I thought they would be.  I planned to leave this 100% stock but I may switch those out.  I'll try and get a pic up later.

Good luck with that.

No pictures?

I'd like to pick one of these MC operators up but the ugly pachmayr grips just kills it for me. I know I could put new stocks on the sides, but what about the front strap portion? Is it removable without boogering up the finish? I'd rather have front strap checkering and G10's

I like mine a lot but, haven't shot it as much as I'd like due to the price/availability of ammo.  The only changes I made to mine were adding some VZ Predator Green Operator II's and I had my gunsmith add a Greider trigger.

When I ditched the ugly plastic grips for some VZ's I put on some of VZ's front strap tape. I'll eventually buy the kit to do the checkering myself, but until then it'll work.

What color VZ's are those?  Dirty Olive?  Still trying to decide if I want to go with green grips or black.

I walked away from one at a gun show yesterday. They had both models of 1911 that I want. Had the MC Operator and had the TRP. They had $1100 on the MC Operator, and I'm kicking myself for not jumping on it, but I just can't really afford it right now because I just dropped the money on a Sig Sauer P226 Navy.

Mike-

Did you buy the one with the 10-8 goodies? Was watching it for a while trying to justify buying it.

No, mine was just a standard NIB MC Operator

It is FAR from being a semi-custom, I will agree. It s essentially a Loaded model with a rail and a green frame.
They are great pistols, you can always switch the grips with no mods. Great value or the money

Congrats!

I agree.....They need to pin the ejector and tone down the slide serrations.  Mine are like a cheese grater.

I've been carrying this one on duty for the past 3 years.  I had the frame refinished to match the slide and I replaced the factory grips with some from MIL-TAC.
