I am putting a lot of thought into a new set of sights for my SA non-TRP Operator with Novak Low-Mount sight cuts.  I am hoping for some input and here are some things I am looking for

-Straight 8 tritium configuration, I have this on other pistols and prefer it
-contoured front sight base, this is very important to me as I am tired of the issues I am presented with holstering the pistol with the sight base protrusions

I am leaning towards Heinie's but I don't know if there is an option for a contoured front sight.

I am not sure of your question.
Are you talking about having the front sight blended to the slide?

You have already decided what you want and described such in your original post. What else is there to add?

My favorite set up is the 10-8 rear with a .140 "U" notch. and a Novak tritium .170 height front. ( You could also do a fiber optic, gold or brass bead front). Your eye goes right to the front sight, you drop it in the "U" notch and your on. The wide rear notch is also easy to pick up with us bifocal crowd. You can still do very precise shooting with this set up unlike the XS system.
As far as contouring the front sight base it would probably need refinshing of the front sight and probably the slide. Maybe one of the other Smiths can give more info on this.

Wilson has similar offerings (my favorite rear sight is the black Battlesight) and their front sights do have a bit of contour to the top of their base.

If I understand the original post, you have an Operator that is already Novak cut.  I assume it came from the factory that way.  If so, I'm wondering if it has a tritium front already, and if it has a contoured base.  If so, and assuming your tritium is fresh, get a Heinie Straight Eight rear that is Novak cut.  If you have a need for a new tritium front (whether it's because of point of aim or a dim/old tritium tube) send it to Springfield for a new Tritium front that is contoured.  Heck, you could send the whole thing to the Springfield Armory Custom Shop and have them set you up. They do great work and do it cheap.
