Both are good, solid pistols.  Personally, I would buy the Colt.  I have the Colt and it's a really, really nice pistol.  So far, I have added Mil-Tec G10 grips, 10-8 sights.  It functions perfectly.  Very accurate.

My vote:

It functions perfectly and is very accurate.

I have an MC Operator and am an admitted Colt fan boy. I have the Operator because I always wanted one and found a deal on one used before the rail gun came out.

I say flip a coin if you really can't decide but either will serve you well.

I have both guns and they are both guns that I will never sell

I have the Colt and an MC Operator.  Colt had some sharp edges and little cosmetic things that irritated me.  Shoots perfect.

MC looked beautiful out of the box; shoots perfectly.

My vote is for the Operator (MC)

I voted Colt, but either would be a good pistol, with great customer service.

If those are the two options, I would go with the Colt.

another vote for the MC.  springfield customer service is second to none

I am sure both are fine, but I prefer the Colt.  Does a firing pin safety matter to you?

Don't own either, but shot an Operator, it was very damn accurate, I was kind of shocked at the groups I fired with it. My vote is for the Operator..

Made completely in the USA - colt
If you don't mind parts built in brazil and assembled here Springfield
Can't go wrong either way. I prefer colt myself. My next 1911 will be a colt rail gun

So I've decided on the Colt in Stainless, anyone know where I can find one.......?????

They are both great guns, and I don't think you can go wrong with either one. After saying that, I prefer the Springfield. I think they look nicer, to me Colts do not. Their roll marks drive me up the wall.

You may have trouble finding one , but keep putting the word out ...I got very lucky a couple of months ago I traded a stag model 1 that I have had for a few years. I stripped the optic off and let him take 2 mags . I had $630 in it , and already built my go to AR.
It's a 2 tone with 100yr roll mark .

I vote Colt every time, but I'm biased. Every 1911 except for one is a Colt. The oddball is a 1945 Remington Rand. I love my Rail Gun.

Pic vote.  Probably not the same type of Opertor you are talking about but he SA quality IMO has caught up and in some realms surpassed Colt.

Yep.  I had a buddy's rail gun over.  He wanted me to detail strip and clean it.  It's nice... but it is definitely a "production gun"  Slide to frame fit is very production.  And the sharp edges are VERY production.  Cool pistol, but not refined at all.

Well with a near 50/50 split this wasn't as helpful as I'd thought. At least I can't go wrong with either! After much searching I found a SS Colt Rail Gun and snatched it up! Stoked for my first 1911!!!!

Either will serve you well, both are nice. But I give the edge to the Colt.

An "NM" serial prefix Springfield is a beautiful thing.

My same exact findings as well.

The newer Colts have the edges softened up.  I would go Colt but it is your money.  I have a Colt RG that goes to work with me every day and have had no issues with it.

I have one of these and it will never be sold. Eats any ammo I feed it and shoots like a champ.
