I have a pile of magazines for my 1911. Some will drop free some will not. Is there anyway to make em work? I don't feel any obstructions in the magwell.
Any old 1911 tricks for this? |
| inspect the mag chute first, and make sure that there is clearance around the trigger bow and that the grip escutcheons do not interfere....I then ink the magazines with a magic marker/sharpie quick dry marker.... typically the bind is just below the feed lip transition from the mag tube.... but mark from the mag catch slot up... insert and remove a couple of times and look for wear... usually a tap or so from a hammer does the trick....make sure that if you are using an extended mag release that you are not trapping the mags from the left side... a high polish on the concave part of the mag catch helps... old soft stainless mags will sometimes deform at the rear, and you can see the imprint of where cartridges have impacted |
