looked all over but cant seem to find whether or not a SIG 1911 threaded barrel will fit my RIA 1911. I know that its not an M4 for interchangeability, but any one got any experience with this? suggestions? is it even worth suppressing or should i look more towards my 9mm? thanks.

1911 barrels must (or at least should) be fitted.  The Kart Easy Fit barrel is the closest thing to a "drop in" barrel that I  would consider, but YMMV.

Everything in some sort of way has to be fitted on a 1911...

They both use standard style barrels, but it would be a hell of a long shot that it would fit/function without damaging the slide and/or barrel, let alone group well.

I assume that a good smith should be able to fix those problems correct?

can they fit a barrel to go into another gun, possibly. Depends on what fitting is needed between the two guns and if there's the right metal left. Will you be able to swap from one gun to anotehr? No, the odds are VERY slim.

Think of it like tailoring a suit. Maybe the tailor could alter and hem some parts to fit the suit to a new guy, but then the suit wouldn't fit the guy it was originally made for.
