I just did two 1911s, for the first time one Norinco and one Springfield SS loaded. I have to say that it was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be, just take your time and it will get done in a few (6-8) hours. I am very happy with the way they turned out. ETA: I didn't practice on anything just got down to it. One thing I did on the second one was set up a soft copper wire stop. It saved me from doing any refinishing on the SS Spring field, I had already planed on re bluing the Norinco. |

Its not worth your time. Maybe it is, but not in my case. I don't want to spend hours/ days checkering my front strap for no noticeable difference, besides feel/grip. IMHO
Id just get some grip tape and be done. Looks clean and its removable if you don't like it. It does, essentially, the same thing as checkering. |
