Is citadel a good manufacturer? I read mixed reviews online but i hear their customer service is good! Which is a good thing but I dont think I should have to send off a brand new gun after the 1st trip to the range. Also new to 1911s and still shopping around. Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Citadel is made by Armscor which also makes Rock Island Armory. I have one, and  the only problem was a bad slide stop. Armscor sent me a new one. The finish is a little thin, and sucksnup the oil when it is applied. It shoots great and at ten yards I can make all 7 rounds touch each other. I have the CS model with Novak sights. For $500 you can't beat it.

Nice to hear and yea for the money you cant! Dont really want to spend more than $700 or so. I saw one @ academy today for $530 so I might be heading back before the week is done if no other input.

The one I saw here at academy had a fairly big gap between the barrel hood and the slide on the right side.  Might want to give it a good look before buying.

Thanks for the advice. Might check another academy and two LGS today since they were closed on monday. The shooting range around here only had a kimber and a sig in stock.

Well no surprise the other academy had the same stock and I only made it to one LGS and they only had a Taurus model. So I guess the search will continue tomorrow.

I absolutely love mine.

It's reliable with Wilson, act, and CMC mags.

Got about 1k through it and zero issues.

I had the ambi safety replaced with a Wilson standard safety and duracoated it.

Also replaced the flgr with a GI one.

See I love the look of it. Simple and nice. But with anything I guess you just cant go with looks also needs to be reliable! I been looking online and I've ran across something about the barrel of a colt that it can take pretty much any kind of ammo though it With no problem. Is that the same with citadel?

Well just a update. I ordered a gun today but didnt go with the citadel, instead I went with a Tisas 1911. I figure for my 1st 1911 style pistol I dont wanna spend to much (but a Colt did feel damn nice in my hand) but I hope it doesnt backfire on me and I regret not spending the extra cash. But for $400 I guess I cant complain to much.

I would have stuck with the Phillipino.

I bought a Citadel 1911CS today, and I've got to give them credit...it's the best out of the box 1911 I've ever bought. And, I've own Colts, S&W, and Kimbers. Only complaint is that it didn't come with at least white dot sights. But, it's accurate as hell and not one hiccup in the 100 rounds I put through it today. Damn good pistol if you ask me.
