Any one have any thoughts on using a narrow hood width barrel on a standard (wide) width slide ? I have read and found at least one who says he has done this with no issue.
Recently bought a NOS Colt NM barrel through the EE, Buyer was un-sure of hood width, I felt I could not lose as I have a GC / NM pistol the barrel would fit if narrow hood. Turns out the barrel is narrow hood. I had hoped to have barrel fitted to a Norinco which has a wide hood would hood slide (stock barrel is showing signs of lug hammering). I've read at least one account of narrow hood in wide hood slide working just fine. Not sure if if this is to be trusted. Anyone have any thoughts on the topic ? Worst case, the barrel becomes a spare for the GC / NM pistol. I can wait to get the right barrel. |
