What can anyone tell me about the Firestar M45 pistol ?
Thanks in advance. |

While the Firestar pistols are NOT a true 1911, they are well built. They were made by Star. I have a M43 (9mm) and a M40(40S&W). The only time that I have ever had any problems with either one was when using Remington/UMC ammo, lots of FTE/stovepipes. Mine are more accurate than I can shoot. There is a wealth of knowledge over at gunboards forum http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?40-The-Spanish-Pistol-Board |
| Firestar M45 are Spanish manufactured. Single action, 6 round capacity. Gun does have a magazine safety - no magazine in the well, the gun won't shoot. Heavy guns - mine is pretty accurate. Not worth much money. I have found several places that still have magazines, but the parts can be somewhat harder. Thankfully, I havent need to replace anything.... |

Some parts are hard to come by. Magazines can still be bought for the Firestars. Any holster that fits a compact 1911 will also fit the Firestar pistols. Like I said, I own 2 and haven't had any problems and have never had to replace any parts. I have shot my M40 extensively with many 1000s of round through it without out a hitch, other than ammo related as stated in my first post. Firestars are just like Rock Island Arsenal Pistols, people either love them or hate them. I wouldn't mind finding a M45 to go with my M40 and M43 |

I had a 'starval'(stainless looking) M45 back in the day. It was quite heavy for it's size however it shot and worked well enough...perfect with ball ammo but not real whoopee with the 'Black Talon' and 'Golden sabre' ammo
If I had owned a 9mm version...I might have liked it better...but who knows? maybe not. It was a very decent pistol I remember...I just didn't connect with it. |

As stated, they aren't a 1911 but still well made pistols. I like mine and haven't had any problems with them. |
