Alright now I have been shooting 1911s for over a decade. I know the system very well. Or I thought I did.
Replaced the main spring in my TRP. Something is not right. The new main spring was much longer. Replacing the old mainspring with a standard 23#. Im gunna go out on a whim here and say something about the ILS system prevents using standard mainspring in it. The hammer gets super right right before it locks into the firing position. I can muscle it into place, but I know that you shouldn't have to muscle it into place. So someone here go ahead and tell me its the stupid ILS system thats causing me all these problems so I can go ahead and order a standard housing |

Yes it is the ILS. You need to order a standard mainspring housing, the standard mainspring (which you have), standard mainspring cap and standard mainspring retainer.
Here is the guide I used: ILS Removal |

I tore it apart and back together a couple of times before I thought about the ILS system. I will say you can sure as hell hard fit a hammer and sear by using the ILS system with a standard spring. |

I tossed the stock magwell from my TRP in the trash and installed a regular MSH and just did a nice bevel. You could also do a S&A or similar standard magwell. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f296/madryan/TRP%20Project/IMG_0822_zpsa0626148.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f296/madryan/TRP%20Project/IMG_0806_zps8745eb3b.jpg Excellent work! I am not that good with a file just yet. Ill be buying a S&A probably today. |
