I have a Springer Loaded and I'm trying to install the Wilson speed chute.  I have filed on it and it still will not fit with out binding the grip safety.  The safety moves but is not functional.  As I don't mind this too terribly, now the hammer when dropped just flops.  What did I do wrong?

Is this an all-in-one mainspring housing / magwell part?

Are you using the stock Springfield mainspring that was included in the ILS mainspring housing?    It's shorter than others and you will need a mainspring of the correct length.   23# is the factory weight though I like 19# personally.

Not sure why the grip safety is binding.  Get a Sharpie, color some edges and see if you can determine where it's dragging.   Might be rubbing against the hammer strut as well.

It is a two piece, the msh and the magwell.  I wasn't aware they were shorter springs as I have done this before and never had problems.

Recent Springfields (from about 10 years ago and newer) have a longer mainspring cap and shorter mainspring as part of the Integrated Locking System.   A new cap and spring are needed if you swap in a non-ILS mainspring housing.
