Hey guys,

A friend of mine has a Springfield Armory Micro Mil-Spec for sale, for what I think is a decent price. I was thinking about possibly picking it up, as I am kinda in the market for a smaller 1911 for carry. I currently carry a 5" 1911.

I know the smaller 1911's are prone to issues due to the shorter slide / recoil stroke.

My question is, should I pursue this gun, or are they too prone to issues. From what I have read, they seem to be hit or miss, with the majority being good though.

Also, what is a good price for these guns?

Thanks!

The gun looks like this (photo stolen from Google):

I bought one years ago for $400 and it consistently had jamming issues.  I sent it back to Springfield and they fixed the issues but I couldn't mentally get over all the jamming issues I had with it so I sold it for $500 about 12 months ago.  The retail on these is pretty high if I recall.

One of my best friends bought one right before New Years.  Had issues with feeding HP while we fired it at our range.  He sent it back to SA and they sent it back 9 days later; polished ramp, tuned it and now it runs like a raped ape.  I almost want one...

Cool, thanks guys. I'm gonna take a look at it and see how I like it.

What would be a good price for it?

only gun I've ever owned that wouldn't chamber a single round was a springfield. I'll never buy another brazilian special under an American name.

Bought one new years ago for $425. Ran about 1,000 rounds through it trouble free and then sent it off to Springfield Custom Shop for the TRP package they offered at the time. Came back and had a problem around 250 rounds, turned out to be a broken ejector. Sent it back to them on their dime, they fixed it fast and I've not had a problem with it since. Round count is probably around 2,500-3,000 now.

It is not a daily carry piece.
