Looking to replace my fixed Novak rear sight on my Springfield Operator (not TRP).  Does anyone know which ones are supposed to fit?  The sights on there right now are the Novak cut but I don't know what WD or PB means... help would be appreciated

WD: white dot
PB: plain black
TD: tritium dot

Unfortunately these sights won't fit your Springfield without some additional cuts to the slide.   Why Novak settled on a design that wouldn't fit his low-mount cut is beyond me.

Kensight makes a series that will fit the Novak low-mount cut with only the usual amount of fitting required.

I have them on a Colt Commander but they had to be cut to fit, they are perfect now.

are what I need to fit my Operator?

What's the deal with this Novak cut thing, seems like manufacturers are making things more complicated than they need to be

The sights in that link will fit.   Novak introduced his low-mount fixed sight and accompanying slide cut probably 20 years ago, and they became popular enough that guns started coming mounted with them from the factory, and other sight makers made sights to fit the dovetail.

Much more recently, Novak decided to develop an adjustable sight, but for whatever reason (patent conflicts, maybe) chose to build it so that it would require an additional mill cut on the traditional fixed low-mount dovetail cut... to accommodate the forward part of the sight that contains the hinge.    Nobody has adopted the adjustable Novak cut on their factory 1911s (that I know of), and the adjustable Novak sight is the only sight you can buy that will use that dovetail.   You can still put fixed sights in the adjustable cut, but it will have an ugly gap at the front where the flat cut is unfilled.
