My vote would be my Kimber custom. almost 10k rds and 100% reliability. Its the priciest one I have, so I would have to buy some close to $2k guns to see which one I wanted |

If new, I would look at Les Baer, Springfield TRP or Dan Wesson. I have a LB UTC and TRP operator and both are excellent 1911. I used to own a Dan Wesson CBOB and the quality was very good, the new ones are even better from what I read.
If used, I would look for a Wilson Combat, lifetime warranty on the gun (doesn't matter if you are not the original owner). I have seen quite a few used ones for sale lately. |

damn, I was hoping that this thread would provide some answers to the same question, but all it has done is muddied the water!
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I too am looking for a full sized 1911 -- I'm considering a Dan Wesson Valor, Kimber Custom, Remington Enhanced, or a Springfield TRP. I hadn't considered the Springfield until I read this thread, but it seems like a damn nice value...seing the lack of Remington's posted here, I'm thinking of pulling it off the list. I love my Kimber smaller framed 1911, and my gut was to head in that direction first, but I've heard some great reviews on the DW's?

Between the DW and TRP, I would pick DW all day long. Both are hand fitted to a level approaching semi-customs like Baer, Brown, etc, but I prefer the DW's parts and features.
Kimber doesn't make a gun worth $1500 in my opinion... their expensive models are built no better than their basic models from what I have seen -- though they do a good job turning out a production 1911 at the $750-900 level. Much past that, and they are outclassed. |
| while I agree on the DW comments I have to say that my kimber tactical custom and raptor are every bit fitted equal to my trp pistols. I cant complain about any of my 1911s because they have never given me any issues worth complaining about. Im not a kimber fan boy and I hate the 1 yr warranty, I just like things that work the way they should. |
