I'm really contiplating handgun hunting, no one is ever hardly out In The woods that week and I can shoot milk jugs all day at 50 yards with my govt length springer.
I'm guessing there is no factory 10mm long slides so I'm probably have to get it custom built? Do you guys think a slide mounted red dot could withstand the abuse? Any other tips, hints, or experiences that could help out a newb handgun hunter? Thanks |

Since I missed out on a 45super on the ee, this is on my mind.
When I started inquiring about 10mm on gt I got a response that 45super could do everything a 10mm could do, only better, but you knew that was coming! I have seen these SA pistols on the ee at different times, just not when I have cash. No worries since I already have one. With a spring change you have a great longslide 45acp. |

Quoted: Quoted: Go with a frame mounted RDS. Fusion firearms sells a hunter 10mm kit. Better still, find somebody other than Fusion. I had a project done there and it was a complete goat rope. I still have to get some rounds downrange with mine, but so far I love it. ![]() |

Find a S&W 1006 or Glock 20. Maybe a 460 rowland conversion for your 1911. You should be good out to 50 yds with any of those. Maybe in the east. Out west (I'm from WA) our critters are considerably bigger. I might go down to .243 in the Pacific Northwest, but never a pistol. Last time I went out was with 7mm Weatherby. BOOM! and, upon recovery, the buck was knocked over and had shaking ankles. Then done. Elk, moose, and caribou are basically horses with antlers. I just say that to make everyone think of the size. You need .308 at the minimum to put them down, and I lean towards bigger. .308 is for ninjas too, so a better option might be .338. |
