I just picked up a Rock Island Armory 2011 Tactical model. I love this pistol.

The only bad thing is that it hits about 2" low at 10 yards.

Can anyone identify the style of front sight? How does one measure the height of the front sight? From which surface do you measure?

How does one go about adjusting the front sight, besides filing it down?

..You need to take a little off the front sight. Here's how I do it so it comes clean out and square. I use a piece of glass say a foot long. I tape a piece emery cloth on the glass. . I the turn the gun over and plane the front sight on the emery cloth and the rear sight on the glass. Take a little off then shoot the gun then take off a little more until you get the right height. When you get done cold blue the sight..

By my calculations you will only need to remove about 0.014 inches off the front sight.

I Tapper cut down towards muzzle about five degrees. This give a crisp front sight picture.

Awesome, thank you for the responses.

Guess I need to go to the range and file away.
