| Hey everyone, I've been looking into getting an officers size 1911 for awhile now, and ran accross a citadel 1911 compact at a local shop for $480 i believe. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these? All I really have gathered is that they're imported by armscor and made by the same people whom of which make Rock Island Armory. Thanks in advance. |
| Dont have a Citadel, but my RIA officer's has been 100% reliable out of the box. I have about 11 boxes(550 rds.) through it. Mine has surprisingly good ejection pattern, I could almost catch the brass in a 5 gallon bucket, lol. Accurate, but mine has the tiny GI sights. I'd like to get a tactical model with Novak style sights in the future. I believe the Citadel comes with good sights and a nice grip safety? |

Ive got a Citadel 5" and have been quite pleased with it. They are essentially a RIA with some cosmetic differences- or at least that used to be the case. Citadel had checkered diamond grips, front serrations, and a slightly different trigger than the CIA Tactical models. Now with the new redesigned RIA Tactical that came out this year they are virtually identical save for the roll marks.
Pretty much all "Officer" models have a greater chance of malfunction than their Full Size counterparts- regardless of make (save for Colt). They are a good entry level 1911. |
